Western Films

Westerns are one of the deepest categories in public domain cinema. The genre was produced in enormous volume from the silent era through the 1950s, and a large share of the B-westerns and serials were never properly copyrighted or were allowed to lapse. The collection runs from early silent shorts through singing cowboy pictures and frontier dramas. Many of these films were made by small studios like Monogram and PRC that did not survive, which is why their catalogs ended up in the public domain rather than being preserved by a rights holder.
