You Bet Your Life
You Bet Your Life is an American comedy game show that aired from 1950 to 1961, hosted by Groucho Marx. Each episode features Marx interviewing ordinary contestants with his trademark rapid-fire wit and ad-libbed insults, punctuated by a quiz segment in which contestants could win money by answering simple questions. If anyone said the episode's secret word — revealed to the audience but not the contestants — a stuffed duck would drop from the ceiling and a bonus was awarded. Announcer George Fenneman served as Marx's straight man. The series began on radio in 1947 and moved to television in 1950, running for 429 episodes. Many episodes are in the public domain.
