The Adventures of Sir Lancelot
The Adventures of Sir Lancelot is a British historical adventure television series that aired from 1956 to 1957, starring William Russell as the legendary Knight of the Round Table. Produced by Sapphire Films for Lew Grade's ITC distribution network, the series was the first British television show to be shot in color, using the experimental Chromatron process for selected episodes. The show ran for 30 half-hour episodes and follows Lancelot's quests and adventures in Camelot, blending Arthurian legend with original stories. Like Sapphire's other historical series — The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Buccaneers — it was filmed at Nettlefold Studios with location work around Runnymede. Many episodes are in the public domain.
