The Adventures of Rex and Rinty

The Adventures of Rex and Rinty is a 1935 Mascot Pictures serial in twelve chapters, pairing two of the most popular animal stars of the era: the magnificent black stallion Rex and Rin Tin Tin Jr., son of the legendary German Shepherd. Jack Mulhall plays the human lead, a cavalry officer, but the real heroes are the animals, who carry the action across a story involving a hidden island, a sacred white horse, and a villain scheming to seize the throne of a lost kingdom. Directed by Ford Beebe and B. Reeves Eason, the serial is a fast-moving blend of animal stunts, exotic adventure, and chapterplay cliffhangers. It is in the public domain.
