An early ethnographic documentary following the Bakhtiari tribe of Persia (modern Iran) as 50,000 people and their herds make a perilous seasonal migration across the Karun River and over the Zard Kuh mountain. Directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, their first collaboration before King Kong. Selected for the National Film Registry in 1997. The film entered the public domain through non-renewal.
