The Leopard Woman
A 1920 American silent adventure romance film directed by Wesley Ruggles, starring Louise Glaum and House Peters. British secret agent John Culbertson (Peters) leads a safari from Bajuma to the kingdom of M'tela in Africa. Bound by oath to prevent him from reaching it is Madame (Glaum), a secret agent of a rival government known as "the Leopard Woman." When their safaris meet in the desert, Madame is forced to accept Culbertson's aid and unwittingly falls in love with him. After he scorns her, she orders her servant Chaké (Noble Johnson) to kill him — but when the attempt fails, she is secretly relieved. Based on the 1916 novel by Stewart Edward White, with location shooting in Palm Springs, California.
