Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning

A 2005 Finnish feature-length science fiction comedy directed by Timo Vuorensola. Created over seven years by a fan production team on a shoestring budget, it is a parody of Star Trek and Babylon 5. Captain James B. Pirk of the starship Kickstart is shipwrecked on 21st-century Earth with his crew. Stranded and bored, Pirk conquers the Earth and declares himself Emperor, then leads his fleet through a wormhole to a parallel universe where he encounters the space station Babel 13 under Captain Sherrypie. The film was a landmark in internet-era fan filmmaking, with its visual effects created largely by Samuli Torssonen on home computers. It was released under a Creative Commons license and has been downloaded millions of times.
