Rock, Rock, Rock!

A 1956 musical drama film directed by Will Price, conceived and co-produced by Milton Subotsky. An early jukebox musical featuring performances by established rock and roll singers of the era, including Chuck Berry, LaVern Baker, Teddy Randazzo, the Moonglows, the Flamingos, and the Teenagers with Frankie Lymon as lead singer. Famed disc jockey Alan Freed appears as himself. The thin plot follows teenager Dori Graham (Tuesday Weld, in her feature film debut at age 13), who is trying to get together enough money to buy a strapless gown for the school prom after her father cuts off her allowance. Connie Francis provided Dori's singing voice. The film was not included in the Copyright Catalog, placing it in the public domain. Subotsky later co-founded Amicus Productions, the rival to Hammer Films.
