American actress, comedian, and producer, born 1911. Best known as the star of I Love Lucy (1951-1957) and The Lucy Show (1962-1968), two of the most influential sitcoms in television history. She co-founded Desilu Productions with her husband Desi Arnaz, becoming one of the most powerful women in Hollywood. She died in 1989.
