American actress best known for playing the title role in the 1954-1957 television series Annie Oakley. Born Betty Jeanne Grayson in 1925, she was a sharpshooter and horsewoman in real life, which lent authenticity to her portrayal of the legendary marksman. Annie Oakley was one of the first television Westerns to feature a woman as the lead, and Davis performed many of her own stunts. After the series ended, she retired from acting and lived quietly in California.
