Reet, Petite, and Gone

A 1947 American musical race film produced and released by Astor Pictures, starring Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five. Old-time musical star Schyler Jarvis, now wealthy, is dying; his last act is a visionary plan for the future happiness of his son, swing bandleader Louis Jarvis, and Honey Carter, daughter of his long-lost love. But crooked lawyer Henry Talbot has a nefarious scheme to get his hands on the Jarvis money. The film features 14 songs by Louis Jordan with his Tympany Five, June Richmond, and Mable Lee. This was the second of three feature films starring Louis Jordan, following the success of Crouch's Caldonia (1945).
