American comedian and film star, born in 1901. The youngest of the Marx Brothers, he played the straight romantic lead in their first five films, including The Cocoanuts (1929). He left the act after Duck Soup (1933) and became a successful talent agent and engineer, holding patents on a wristwatch heart-rate monitor.
