ZaSu Pitts

American film and television actress, born 1894 in Parsons, Kansas. Discovered by screenwriter Frances Marion, she built a career on a distinctive fluttering manner and anxious, fretful comic timing. She played Trina in Erich von Stroheim's Greed (1924), one of the great tragic performances of the silent era, and later became a popular comedienne in sound films and television. She died in 1963.
