Yuliya Solntseva

Ukrainian actress and film director, born in 1901. She began as an actress, playing Opanas' daughter in Alexander Dovzhenko's Earth (1930), and married Dovzhenko. After his death in 1956, she directed several films, completing projects based on his screenplays, and became one of the few women directing feature films in the Soviet Union. She died in 1989.
