William Powell

American actor. Born in 1892, Powell was a leading man of Hollywood's golden age, known for his wit and polished delivery. He is best known for playing the detective Nick Charles opposite Myrna Loy in the Thin Man series, and for his roles in My Man Godfrey (1936) and The Great Ziegfeld (1936). He worked in film from the silent era through the 1950s. He died in 1984.
