William Fountaine

American actor, born in 1895. A stage performer cast as Hot Shot in King Vidor's Hallelujah (1929), he appeared in a handful of early sound films in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Little biographical detail on him survives, but his work in Hallelujah is among the recorded performances from the first wave of studio films with Black casts.
