William Beaudine

American film director and actor (1892-1970) whose career spanned over 50 years and more than 350 films. He directed silent comedies for Christie Film Company and Vanity Comedies, including A Husband in Haste (1921), before moving to features at Warner Bros. and other studios. In the 1960s he directed low-budget horror films for producer Jack Harris, including The Ape Man (1943) and Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla (1952). Known for his speed and efficiency, Beaudine was one of Hollywood's most prolific directors.
