American animator, producer, and entrepreneur. In the early 1920s Disney ran the Laugh-O-Gram studio in Kansas City, where he made the Alice Comedies, mixing live-action footage of a real girl with animated backgrounds. Alice's Wonderland (1923) was the pilot for that series and the project that brought Disney to Hollywood. He later co-founded the Disney Brothers Studio, which became The Walt Disney Company.
