Vilma Bánky

Hungarian-born silent film actress, the frequent leading lady opposite Rudolph Valentino in his later films. Born Vilma Koncsics in 1901, she was discovered by Samuel Goldwyn and brought to Hollywood, where her dark beauty and expressive face made her a star. She appeared with Valentino in The Eagle (1925) and The Son of the Sheik (1926), and with Ronald Colman in several hits. Her thick Hungarian accent ended her career with the coming of sound, and she retired in the early 1930s.
