Vera Gordon

Russian-born American character actress, born in 1879. She emigrated to the United States and became a beloved maternal figure of the silent screen, most famously as Mama Kantor in Humoresque (1920), a performance that helped define the immigrant-mother type in early Hollywood. She continued playing similar roles through the 1920s. She died in 1948.
