Tom Neal

American actor and boxer. Born in 1914, Neal is best known for playing Al Roberts in the film noir Detour (1945). He had a brief film career in the 1940s, often in B-pictures and noir roles. His career effectively ended after a highly publicized altercation with actor Franchot Tone over actress Barbara Payton. He later worked as a landscaper and served prison time. He died in 1972.
