Theda Bara

American silent film actress, born 1885. One of the most popular stars of the 1910s, she was the screen's first sex symbol and the original "vamp," famous for A Fool There Was (1915) and Cleopatra (1917). Most of her films are lost. She retired from the screen in 1926 and died in 1955.
