Stuart Paton

American film director and screenwriter of the silent era, born in 1883. He directed Universal's ambitious 1916 adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, pioneering underwater photography. He directed numerous silent features through the 1920s before leaving the industry. He died in 1942.
