Stepan Shkurat

Ukrainian actor, born in 1886. A character actor in Soviet Ukrainian cinema, he played the peasant Opanas in Alexander Dovzhenko's Earth (1930), the uncle who resists the new collective farm. He appeared in Ukrainian and Soviet films through the 1930s. He died in 1965.
