Seymour Hicks

British actor, manager, and playwright, born in 1871. A major West End star, he played Ebenezer Scrooge on stage from 1901 and in two films, the 1913 silent Old Scrooge and the 1935 sound feature Scrooge, making him the actor most closely identified with the role in the first half of the twentieth century. He died in 1949.
