Semen Svashenko

Ukrainian actor, born in 1906. A leading man of Soviet Ukrainian cinema in the 1920s and 1930s, he played the young tractor driver Vasyl in Alexander Dovzhenko's Earth (1930) and appeared in Arsenal (1929). He worked steadily through the Soviet era. He died in 1991.
