Prolific American film producer born in 1901 who was known as "King of the Quickies." Katzman produced hundreds of low-budget films for Monogram and later Columbia, including the East Side Kids series. He produced Spooks Run Wild (1941) and Ghosts on the Loose (1943), both pairing the East Side Kids with Bela Lugosi. He later oversaw the popular Jungle Jim series and many rock-and-roll films of the 1950s. He was famous for delivering films fast and cheap.
