Rudolf Klein-Rogge

German film actor. Born in 1885, Klein-Rogge was a striking presence in German Expressionist cinema and a frequent collaborator of Fritz Lang. He played the mad inventor Rotwang in Metropolis (1927), the title criminal in Dr. Mabuse the Gambler (1922), and King Metropolis's rival in several Lang films. His intense, angular face made him a natural for villains. He died in 1955.
