American animator, director, and producer (1903-1992) who, with Hugh Harman, founded Harman-Ising Productions. The duo created Bosko, the first Looney Tunes star, and produced the early Merrie Melodies for Leon Schlesinger and Warner Bros. Ising generally handled the Merrie Melodies while Harman directed the Looney Tunes. Their studio also later produced Happy Harmonies for MGM.
