Roy D'Arcy

American character actor of the silent era, born Roy Ferdinand Giust in 1894. He specialized in suave, villainous aristocrats and rakes, most notably as Crown Prince Mirko in Erich von Stroheim's The Merry Widow (1925). His exaggerated, stylized performances suited Stroheim's taste for decadent European types, and he worked steadily through the late silent period.
