Robert Woolsey

American film comedian (1888-1938) who formed the comedy duo Wheeler & Woolsey with Bert Wheeler. Known for his fez hat, cigar, and rapid-fire wisecracks, Woolsey was the comic foil of the duo. They starred in a series of RKO comedies in the 1930s beginning with Dixiana (1930). Woolsey died of kidney disease in 1938, ending the partnership.
