Robert Florey

French-born American film director, born in 1900. A journalist and assistant director in Hollywood before moving to the director's chair, he co-directed The Cocoanuts (1929), the first Marx Brothers feature. He spent much of his career in B-pictures and shorts, and was a respected director of mystery and horror material, including Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932).
