German Shepherd dog and animal actor, found as a puppy in a bomb-damaged kennel in France during World War I by American soldier Lee Duncan. Brought to the United States, Rin Tin Tin became one of the biggest box-office draws of the silent era, starring in dozens of films for Warner Bros. and helping keep the struggling studio afloat in the mid-1920s. His descendants continued the Rin Tin Tin line for generations. Clash of the Wolves (1925) is among his best-remembered films.
