Paul Fejos

Hungarian-born film director who worked in Hollywood in the late 1920s. Born in 1897, he directed several innovative films for Universal, including Lonesome (1928) and Broadway (1929), the latter notable for its inventive camera work using a specially built crane. He later returned to Europe and eventually became an anthropologist.
