Norma Talmadge

American silent film actress and producer, born in 1894. One of the biggest stars of the silent era, she began at Vitagraph before forming her own production company with her husband, producer Joseph M. Schenck. Her films included *Smilin' Through* (1922), *Ashes of Vengeance* (1923), and *Kiki* (1926). She and her sisters Constance and Natalie were among the most prominent families in early Hollywood. Her career ended with the coming of sound, and she retired from the screen in 1930. She died in 1957.
