Max Linder
2 credits on HibingeTV
French film actor, director, and screenwriter (1883-1925), one of the first great screen comedians. Linder's elegant, sophisticated comic style influenced Charlie Chaplin, who called him "my professor" and considered him a mentor. He starred in hundreds of short films for Pathé before moving to Hollywood, where he made Seven Years Bad Luck (1921) and The Three Must-Get-Theres (1922). His career was undermined by chronic health problems and depression, and he died by suicide in a Paris hotel with his wife in 1925.
