Marjorie Rambeau

American stage and film actress, born in 1889. A veteran of Broadway, she appeared in numerous films of the 1930s and 1940s, often playing hard-boiled or world-weary women. Her credits include *Min and Bill* (1930) as Bella Pringle and *Tugboat Annie* (1933). She received Academy Award nominations for *Primrose Path* (1940) and *Torch Song* (1953). She died in 1970.
