Mae Murray

American actress and dancer, born Marie Adrienne Koenig in 1889. A star of stage and screen, she was known for her bubbly, high-energy persona and elaborate dance numbers. Her best-remembered film is The Merry Widow (1925), directed by Erich von Stroheim. Her career collapsed in the late 1920s after disputes with studios and directors, and she spent her later years in reduced circumstances.
