Lowell Sherman

American film actor and director (1885-1934) who directed The Greeks Had a Word for Them (1932) and She Done Him Wrong (1933) with Mae West. He began as a stage actor before moving to silent films, where he often played sophisticated villains. As a director, he was known for his work with strong female stars, including Katharine Hepburn in her screen debut in A Bill of Divorcement (1932).
