Louis Hayward

South African-born British actor who appeared in films such as The Man in the Iron Mask (1939). During World War II he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and directed the Academy Award-winning documentary short With the Marines at Tarawa (1944), using authentic combat footage from the Battle of Tarawa.
