Lorne Greene

Canadian actor and broadcaster, born 1915. Best known for starring as Ben Cartwright, the patriarch of the Ponderosa Ranch, in Bonanza (1959-1973), one of the longest-running Westerns in television history. He was also known as the host of nature documentaries and for his role in Battlestar Galactica (1978). He died in 1987.
