Lloyd Bacon

American film director, born in 1890. The son of actor Frank Bacon, he began as an actor before moving into directing at Warner Bros., where he became one of the studio's most reliable directors of fast, punchy films. He directed The Singing Fool (1928), 42nd Street (1933), and a long string of gangster, musical, and war pictures through the 1930s and 1940s.
