Lewis R. Foster

American film director, screenwriter, and actor (1898-1974) who directed Laurel and Hardy comedies at Hal Roach Studios, including Men O' War (1929). He later worked as a screenwriter, winning an Academy Award for the screenplay of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939).
