Laura La Plante

American actress, born in 1904. A star of late silent and early sound films, she was one of Universal's most popular leading ladies in the 1920s. She appeared in the Technicolor revue King of Jazz (1930) and starred in the silent comedy Smiling Irish Eyes (1929). Her career declined in the 1930s and she moved to Britain for a time. She died in 1996.
