L. Frank Baum

American author, born in 1856. Best known as the creator of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequels, he also wrote and produced early silent film adaptations of his Oz stories through the Oz Film Manufacturing Company, including His Majesty, the Scarecrow of Oz (1914). He died in 1919.
