Joseph Santley

American director, producer, and performer, born in 1889. A stage actor from childhood, he moved into directing for the screen in the late 1920s. He co-directed The Cocoanuts (1929) with Robert Florey, handling the musical and stage-derived portions of the Marx Brothers' first feature. He continued directing comedies and musicals through the 1940s.
