John Grierson

Scottish documentary pioneer who coined the term "documentary" in a review of Flaherty's Moana. He founded the British documentary movement through the Empire Marketing Board and GPO film units, directed Drifters (1929), and produced Night Mail (1936). He later established the National Film Board of Canada.
