James Oliver Curwood

American adventure novelist and filmmaker, born in 1878. He wrote numerous wilderness adventure novels set in the Canadian North, many of which he adapted for the screen through his own production company. He co-directed and produced *Nomads of the North* (1920) from his own novel. His works were adapted into films throughout the silent and sound eras. He died in 1927.
