Jacques Feyder

Belgian film director, born Frédéric Feyders in 1885. A leading figure of French and European cinema in the silent and early sound eras, he directed the German-language version of Anna Christie (1930) for MGM and the French classic L'Atlantide (1921). He was associated with the poetic realist style that influenced French cinema in the 1930s. He died in 1948.
