J. Stuart Blackton

British-born American filmmaker and a co-founder of Vitagraph Studios. Often called the father of American animation, Blackton made Humorous Phases of Funny Faces (1906), one of the first films to use drawn animation, combining chalkboard drawing with stop-motion trick photography.
